The Grid-based Map Analysis and Modeling Workshop CD contains six folders.

 

1) \Workshop\PowerPoints folder— contains the PowerPoint slide sets used in the workshop. 

 

WorkshopPart1.ppt — Introduction and Data Considerations

WorkshopPart2.ppt — Spatial Analysis Techniques and Considerations

WorkshopPart3.ppt — Spatial Statistics Techniques and Considerations

WorkshopPart4.ppt — GIS Modeling Approaches and Considerations    

\Links — this folder contains the additional PowerPoint slide; this folder must be manually copied into the same folder with the workshop PowerPoints to retain the relative links embedded in the slide sets.

 

2) \Workshop\WorkshopNotes folder— contains the set of notes and a short background paper supporting the material presented in the workshop.

 

WorkshopNotes.pdf — click on this link to access the workshop notes.  You must have Adobe Reader installed.

WorkshopNotes.doc — click on this link to access a Word document file of the workshop notes.

 

3) \Workshop\MapCalc folder— contains the MapCalc Learner evaluation software and tutorials.

 

MapCalcLearner.exe — click on this link and select Open.  Follow the onscreen installation instructions.  It is recommended that you accept the default specifications as the exercise write-ups assume this installation location.   The MapCalc Learner software will timeout after 14 days. Use Serial Number 1374MS2-0F5050-V and Release Code 6EE3-59C8-EA4B-EFB7 to register the educational version beyond the 14-day trial period.

\MCTutorials\MapCalcTutorials.pdf — click on this link to access the MapCalc Tutorials.  You must have Adobe Reader installed to view.

 

4) \WorkshopData folder— contains the MapCalc databases and scripts used in the exercises.  Once MapCalc is installed, copy the entire …\Workshop_data folder to the C:\Program Files\Red Hen Systems\MapCalc\MapCalc Data\ folder on your computer.  

 

To access MapCalc, press Startΰ Programsΰ MapCalcΰ MapCalc Learner.  In the Quick Start box select “Open existing map set” and browse to the …\Workshop_data folder on the C: drive…

     C:\Program Files\Red Hen Systems\MapCalc\MapCalc Data\WorkshopData\

…on your computer and select the appropriate “.rgs” database as instructed in the exercises.

 

5) \Workshop\WorkshopExercises folder— contains the set of demonstration exercises (for MapCalc and Surfer) used in the workshop.

To access Surfer, press Startΰ Programsΰ Golden Softwareΰ Surfer 8 (click on the banner screen to dismiss) and follow the instructions in the exercises.
