Structure Analysis for Biodiversity and Wildlife
Analysis This slide illustrates a
commercial application that allows landscape
ecologists and natural resources researchers to
quantify landscape structure and spatial
patterns. FRAGSTATS*ARC uses GIS analytical
techniques to calculate statistical spatial
indices which describe the level of uniformity or
fragmentation of landscape patches. This type of
analysis is critical for biodiversity and
wildlife habitat analysis. This type of analysis
is becoming increasingly important to foresters
so they can quantify the effect harvesting may
have on an area with wildlife concerns.
