…advanced grid-based map analysis in PC environments

         

Educational, Professional and Developer versions of the software are under development at Red Hen Systems (http://www.redhensystems.com/).  The Professional Version is a complete stand-alone system for commercial use that contains an extensive set of grid map management, analysis and display.  The Developer Version contains a library of the MapCalc ActiveX/COM objects and a development harness for integrating MapCalc capabilities into other software packages.  The Professional and Developer versions will be available in early 2001.

Welcome to the MapCalc Educational Materials for Instructors… software and resource materials for teaching grid-based map analysis.  The MapCalc Instructor CD contains a multi-user license for the MapCalc Educational software for a single computer lab, all of the educational support material on the MapCalc Student CD and the additional folder …\Instructor_resources containing the Materials for Instructors. 

 

 The MapCalc Educational Materials for Instructors include

ü       General_ppt – numerous presentations on GIS Modeling, Precision Ag and related topics

ü       GM_course – instructional materials for an upper-division semester course in GIS Modeling with lecture presentations, exams, readings, exercises using MapCalc Learner software and online syllabus

ü       GM_seminar – instructional materials for a half-day seminars in GIS Modeling with lecture presentations and hands-on exercises,

ü       GM_workshop – instructional materials for a one-day workshop in GIS Modeling with lecture presentations and workbook materials, and

ü       PF_workshop – instructional materials for a two-day workshop in Precision Farming with exercises, lecture presentations and online syllabus.

 

The materials reflect the circumstances of their original presentation and are not designed for direct use.  You are encouraged to reorganize, edit and integrate the materials with our own resources as appropriate for your class offering.  Much of the material was developed and originally presented at the University of Denver and the author greatly appreciates the opportunity to serve as the Keck Scholar in the Department of Geography.  Without this intellectually stimulating atmosphere these materials would not have been compiled.

 

The MapCalc Educational Materials for Instructors includes several sets of resources developed by Joseph K. Berry (© Joseph K. Berry, 1990-2003).  You can freely use the materials for educational purposes.  If you use copies of the materials for professional presentations and papers, please reference as “(After Berry)” within any graphics and cite in the references section as “Berry, J.K., 2001.
